The Dog Islands are a few small islands located in between Tortola and Virgin Gorda right into the Sir Francis Drake Channel. Great Dog Island, George Dog Island, Cockroach Island, West Dog Island, Little Seal Dog Island and East Seal Dog Island, all uninhabited and less than 100 acres in size. They are named after the sound of Caribbean Monk Seals or Sea Wolves, resembling the barking of dogs and believed to be extinct these days.

Divers are treated with coral ridges, underwater arches and drop-offs. The world famous Chikuzan Wreck is only a few miles towards Anegada. Famous coral dives are the Coral Gardens, Bronco Billy, Flintstones and Wall-to-Wall. It is a wildlife sanctuary for marine species and tropical birds. Protected and regulated by the British Virgin Islands National Parks Trust you need a permit to moor at one of its public mooring sites. It is a fantastic are for both snorkeling as scuba diving.
